i WAS DIAGNOSED with RA in 1993 thru bloodwork--I was treated with a lot of different ansaids until these meds started affecting my creatinine level--at that time, i was removed from all meds and the other physicians said that the RA is gone due to my ana is generally not elevated at time of blood draws. I now manage the pain, but not the swelling in legs, hands, feet with Advil and 1/2 tab of prednisone which helps a small amount with the pain, but am out of the pred and having a hard time getting in to see my family physician to get a refill I started a real bad flare yesterday. I am a phone nurse for a busy ped office and it hurt so bad that I had a hard time doing my job. Do you thinkI need to seeanother Rheumatologist or a family doctor.

my husband was diagnosed with RA about 18 months ago. He is now 38 years old and has has severe joint pain and flare ups. 2 months after being diagnosed and put on methotrixate, and predisone.......he suddenly had severe testical pain and needed emergency surgery for testicular torsion. 9 months later after being new to an infusion drug (remecade) husband had a serious reaction to this drug and thought he was having a heart attack, and many other things...........followed by 4 days in the Hospitol where weird things started happening such as he could not open his mouth, lift his arms, and had a hard time breathing. The Dr. s were this is not typical RA stuff. 2 months later my husband developed a blood clot in his leg and was in the hosp for 5 days to resolve it. He is tired all the time and has many joint and muscle pain and weakness. One week ago (2 months since the blood clot) the specialist did more tests and told him that it was Lupus and not RA. We are scared to death about what this means and how this is attacking so fiercly and with out warning. My husbadn has high blood pressure and heart disease in the family..........should we expect the Lupas to attack his heart? Just looking for some guidance and hope on how to help him to live a normal life without cronic pain and fatigue.............He starts on Humaria soon, is this a helpful drug?

Four weeks ago, I was started on Enbrel autoInjection (50 mg) for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since my first injection, I have developed heartburn/pain in the middle of my chest (under my ribcage/sternum). It began as just a small ache but has now become a deep pain that radiates to my back. Sometimes the pain is like a deep spasm that only last a minute or two. The pain is always there and never completely goes away (it s a deep ache). It is worse at night, when I lay on my back to sleep. The pain eases off when I roll over on my right side. I have been taking Prilosec for the past year because of previous indigestion when I was on Plaquenil for RA. The heartburn/pain got so bad that I eventually went off of the Plaquenil and the heartburn/pain went away. Now it is back with the Enbrel. I am also on Methotrexate for RA and most of the meds like Nexium and Prilosec can counteract with the MTX. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
