I have MRSA infection. Is it because of surgery ?

I recently had back surgery to remove hardware that was put in 18 months ago when doing a fusion. My question is how and from what could I have gotten MRSA infection in my surgical site. I have had to have additional surgery to debri the sight. It has been a nightmare.

I have just had my 3rd non-cancerous breast surgery in 3 weeks. My surgeon called and told me I have MRSA and put me on Clindamycin HCL from the pathologist s report. I was in the hospital 15 months ago for MRSA from a fall and small elbow cut. Is this contagious now and should I be in the hospital? I was in the infectious disease department of the hospital last year. I do have a drain in my breast from Thursday s surgery.

I gave birth to my second child 22 months ago, shortly after I had a staph aureus infection which grew a heavy culture in the cervix. I took two courses of antibiotics which cleared up the infection. Can I try for a baby again - would the infection have caused any damage to the cervix? Could the infection come back?
