I have been diagnosed to have Hypothyroid and subsequently been prescribed Eltroxin - 50mg once daily on empty stomach. Also I was told to avoid cabbage, cauliflower, radish, soya and peanuts. How long will it take to get complete cure from this problem ? Is there anything else I should avoid or anything I should include in my diet ? I am a vegetarian.

The commonest cause for hypothyroidism, especially in a young female is autoimmune disease (thyroid size will be normal). There is no complete cure for this condition and usually Thyroxine (Eltroxin) has to be continued for life. Hypothyroidism due to autoimmune disease usually does not need dietary modifications.
