What Could Cause Red Spots Near The Incision Site After A Surgery?

I had surgery on my left foot one week ago to remove accessory navicular and repair tendon damage. Almost no pain now, but have red spots on an area of my upper thigh and below the knee immediately above the dressing. No itching or discomfort. Advice?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The red spots can be a sign of an infection of the incision.

If you have fever or if you see the presence of the pus or a bad-smelling drainage you should see your surgeon for further evaluation.

Meanwhile, I suggest to maintain the area clean and change the bandage every day.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
