I Had Neck Pain Before For That I Took Medication & Now The Pain Is Started Again

Am 26 year old, working as a design engineer. I ll be seeing computer monitor for 8-10 hrs daily. I do daily exercise, move my body postures often when at work to keep fit. I had neck pain before for that i took medication and changed my pillow to soft one. It reduced. Now the pain is started, i always foresee pain in right side of neck. Is this because of work or sleeping posture? also will calcium tablets help me out in this ? what kind of treatment you suggest for this ? i take milk products daily. Neck pain started from past one year.

It is most likely due to your posture and long hours of working on computer. I am having same problem since 2 years. Keeps changing in severity but some pain and stiffness is always there. One year back i met a doctor for this problem. He gave lots of medicine and asked to go for physiontherapy. I took medicines for 2 weeks but never took physio as it was very time taking affair. Pain reduced at that time but did not go away completely. Calcium n all is not going to help. Rub some gel like relaxyl at night. That helps me and see if u can follow all the good posture advice. I try to follow as far as posible.

Hi,
A common cause of neck pain for a person of your age and profession is postural problem. May be you need to sit right.
- The monitor should be centered at the level of your head.
- The elbows should rest at 90 degrees over the table.
- try stretching your neck in all directions possible every hour to keep them flexible.
- apply analgesic sprays or hot water bags in times of crisis.
- in case of weakness or numbness in your arms, please consult an Orthopedician.

Thank you.

It can be due to your computer work, or may be poor posture while sleeping or might be due to a more serious reson like spondylosis. Get yourself and appintment with orthopedician, i guess it will help you better to solve the problem.
