I have a pain when ever I breath deeply on my upper left side on my chest an inch or two below my collarbone. I am female 18 I weight around 220 and I m 5 6. My father has recently had a heart attack which is why this scares me. I don t have anything really wrong with be besides the chest pain and I have a pinched nerve in my neck but that is it l. What do you think the chest pain could be?

I have pain on the left of my left chest. Doesn t seem to be my breast which looks and feels normal when I examine it. The pain is not sudden or sharp but feels more like background pain behind my breast. It can be stimulated by breathing in or out deeply especially if the breath is forced out and feels on the left side of left breast where it meets the chest wall. I have had muskulosketal problems with my upper back and neck where tendons feel very tight despite exercises and stretches. Physio treatment was very effective in improving matters and I do Pilates and yoga now but some tightness remains around my neck and shoulders. When I pull my shoulder back and forth I feel this chest pain especially if I m vigorous about it and my shoulder feels slightly stiff after lying on it which is a new symptom. I am female, life long non-smoker, virtually tee-total, 164cm, 70kg, age 51, periods stared to be irregular last summer (2 in 7 months). Being widowed I am not pregnant (no sexual activity). I m not on any medication and have good exercise tolerance although could be fitter. This particular pain has been around for a few weeks and I couldn t account for it (no heavy lifting or such-like) but I saw an advert about breast cancer saying pain might be the only symptom. Consequently I am pretty worried and thought it could be any other form of cancer too like something on my chest wall. I wouldn t normally look on-line for answers but thought I d have a look for possible causes and came across this site. I have a GP appointment on Monday.

Hi. About a year ago i started having occasional chest pain. Sometimes on the right side and sometimes on the left. I went to the doctor and I was told that it was nothing to worry about. In the past year I have had this pain come and go but in the past few weeks more often than not I have had atleast a small amount of tightness in my chest, mostly on the left side. When the pain is at its worst breathing in deeply increases the pain. Also while the pain is bad extending out my left arm to grab something can cause a sharp increase in pain momentarily. I have noticed that the pain is typically more intense after smoking marijuana. Do you have any ideas what this could be?

My friend has told me ( he is 82) that when he lies down on his right side his chest hurts. I noticed his shortness of breath two nights ago when we had to walk about 200 yards to a ball park. He is complaining of indigestion- 2 days now. He has had a stent for 10 years, otherwise is in good health. Last night he did not sleep well. He does not feel it is a heart problem as he saw his cardiologist 3 months ago and was dealing with just some high BP-= 130/90

Hi there. I am a 35 year old female 5'7 155 lbs with a 7 month old baby delivered by cesarean. I have had shortness of breath that worsens with physical exertion since the last month of my pregnancy but am otherwise in good health. The last 2 months it has been getting progressively worse to the point where I have to catch my breath sometimes in conversation. I am taking domperidone to increase my breastmilk production and have been for 2 months. I have been to the ER where I have had an ECG, ct scan, x-ray and bloodwork, as well as a pulmonary function test. All results were within normal ranges except my oxygen levels in my blood were low - however the test was taken peripherally, not through a central line. Also, my resting heart rate was 118, and when I did a stress test, within 2 minutes my heart rate was at 200. They are sending me for an echocardiogram next. Do you think this could be adult onset asthma or a reaction to domperidone or is it my heart?

I've had many CAT scans and heart moniters in the past to find out if there are any coronary issues. All thats been found is SVT. Sometimes it's better than others but on a more frequent basis my heart seems to pound pretty hard. The actual lub beat feels like it's going to pound out of my chest and I'm just sitting down. Many times this leads to panic and shortness of breath. I've been told there is nothing I can do about it. Does this mean I have a higher probability of heart failure? How can I control my heart pace? Are there any techniques other than breath control?
