What Should I Do About High Blood Sugar Levels While Taking Epidural Steroid Injection And Januvia Tablet?

I had an epidural steroid injection in my back yesterday. I am taking Januvia 100 mg a day. They told me to watch my blood sugars, but they are closed today. I have had a headache since last night. My blood sugar after breakfast was 328 then before lunch it was 277. What should I do?

Hi,

Steroids will increase the sugar levels. The anti diabetic medication dose has to be increased by the treating physician if the sugars are persistently high. Also if you have to take steroids for longer duration the treatment needs to include anti-diabetic medications. Please consult the treating physician.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
