I had a virus last week, which caused aciness and fever for 5 days. I seem to be past that, but have awakened the past 3 nights with extreme night sweats—literally soaking my night clothes and bedding as many as 3 times/night, in a sort of cluster pattern. It’s a bit frightening!

My daughter had a virus when she was 6 and was not able to walk for over a week. I took her to the hospital when it happened and they ran endless tests. She had a low fever but was in no pain. The doctor treating her at the hospital said he had seen it only a few times in his 35 years as a doctor. I need the name of the virus for a new doctor she is going to see?

How long does the virus which causes hand.foot.mouth disease live on inanimate objects? I realize it is mostly transmitted by saliva, contact with infected kids, etc, but wondered if we should be cleaning our church nursery toys again, since the breakout of HFMD, which are used one day per week. Thanks! Holly

Hi Dr.!I ve had cold like symptoms off and on over the past few weeks. It started as a gastro issue and a doctor gave me omeprazole and simethicone. Then I got a cold and had stuffy and runny nose, cough etc. Then it went away and came back and I ve had an ache in the back and chest and a small persistent dry cough. I ve recently traveled abroad for work to both cuba and peru. The pain in the back and chest went away but now the cough is still there and now I have a little tightness in the throat. Could this just be a persistent virus? Thanks for your time. Paul
