I had a temporary crown put on my lower back tooth last Monday, after part of an old crown broke off. I know the procedure involved “building up” around the part if the crown that remained....along with the use of 2 retraction cords ( as I recall the dentist saying this out loud to the assistant.). Since the procedure, my gums at the site of the dental crown plus the 2 adjacent teeth are swollen and very sore. I just took a good look at my gums by shining a flashlight for better inspection and noticed a couple dozen tiny little bumps or little ulcers along the gum line. After reading various sites, it appears salt water rinses come up a lot. So, I just did that. Ibuprofen helps slightly. What’s happening? Never had this response to a crown before? Should I give it time to heal or ask to be worked in as soon as possible? On a pain scale of 1-10, the pain is a 4 at its worst and 2 at best.
