What Causes Frequent Nose Bleeds In The Morning While Using A Sleep Machine?

I had a nose bleed this morning upon waking that lasted for one hour. Lots of thick clots and several inches in length. How to stop them before an hours time? I applied pressure and kept checking to see if it had stopped when the clots would come out. 2 questions: how to stop them and should I be concerned about this being a symptom of another health issue? I am 69 years old, female. I do get nose bleeds often in the morning upon waking, but they usually stop quickly and I attributed them to being dry from my sleep machine.

Hello,

The bleeding from the nose is caused because the lining of your nose contains many tiny blood vessels that lie close to the surface and are easily damaged. One of the most common causes of nosebleeds is dry air. I suggest to use a water base lubricant for the nose. I also suggest to drink liquids and avoid nose picking that can trigger the bleeding.
