I Got Custom Orthotics When I Was A Kid And Had Achillies Tendonitis

I have had issues with my foot. I got custom orthotics when I was a kid and had achillies tendonitis. I am now 34 and had a to get orthotics again, last year for a colapsed arch and Plantar Fascitis. The ortotics made pain in arch go away but I developed pain on outside of foot. I have been staying off it, compressing and icing for a couple weeks, and it was feeling better. I went snowboarding yesterday and I taped my foot to give added support. I Had a fall which caught the nose of my board in the snow so when I fell I twisted my leg but it didn t feel to bad so I took a break and went back out for a couple more hours. When I got home I took the tape off and that is when the pain started My outside left ankle is a little swollen so I am guessing I have a sprain , but the pain is more in the Plantar Fascia accompanied by a tight feeling in my Achilles tendon and in the flex of my toes. whats going on?

(Ligament(snayu) have the same properties that of kapha(prakrit)i.e.:providing stability, thus when there is ligament TEAR:
.Vata prakopa:shoola (pain)
.Pitta prakopa:shotha (inflammation)
.Kapha(vikrit) prakopa:uthsedha(swelling)i.e why RICE protocol is there
-R:est (vata shamana) to reduce pain
-I:ce (pitta shaman) to reduce inflammation
-C:ompression (kapha shaman) to reduce swelling
-E:levation (V-P-K) improve circulation.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic
You could have experienced soft tissue injury which may have caused significant swelling to prevent normal movement of the foot. But always fracture needs to be ruled out, as hairline fractures may be present sometimes. Get an X-ray. Consult with an Orthopaedician. If it is sprain you will need a few weeks rest as well as pain killers and healthy high protein diet. Keep well hydrated. Try for bed rest for few weeks. Take care next time and be more careful since you already have inherent problem in your feet.

Hello, welcome to Healthcaremagic. You could be having a sprain or soft tissue injury or even may be hairline fracture. It is very difficult to ascertain it without examining you. You must visit a orthopedic doctor for proper evaluation and treatment. Till than you can use ice pack or any topical steroidal ointment. Wish you good health.
