I experience burning in the rib cage. I had a surgeon check my esphogus and it is fine. This past summer it was better, but now it returns daily. Could it be a food intolerance or allergy? it seems to be hard to tell since I eat so many different foods at each meal. It is worse now that wheat and dairy are put back into my diet. I have a pretty low stress life right now.

Hello Dr Grief, I have a few questions. I am a female and former college athlete (basketball) in really good shape. I have a pulse rate of 60 bpm, very good blood pressure at 117/72 (or something around that range), with no signals in my blood that may cause some concern. Yet I have this dull ache in my left shoulder blade that radiates to my chest, right below my collarbone. I have had several ekgs this past summer and an echo exam about a month ago. Everything came back normal. I also experience some stomach and chest burning and was told I have GERD. Does GERD affect these areas, causing pain? There is pain also on the left side right below my rib cage area. I have a bit of tingling in my chin and throat too.

was told I needed a triple by pass, but I did an alternative treatment to cleanse my ateries and my whole body of calcium and minerals.this was 2 years ago Just spent 28 days with shingles, and theres only a teeny bit left, but I caught a cold, which turned to the flu. now I feel like I did when I first started shingles, where im tight all around my rib cage and back with pain, and I seem to need to burp, and if I dont, it hurts.....sometimes my chest gurgles, right where the burping would hurt... so Im thinking its digestion.. a nurse on a help line said its not normal, but where have I heard that before, and Id do the same treatment anyway..so im not going to emergency. The only thing is I want to be certain, Im not nauseated, not vomiting, have loose bowels, but I have the flu....no chest (burning) pain like I had that got me needing bypass surgery no shortness of breath Im just very achey in my chest like a chest cold, I feel like crap, got painful burping, and when I take a deep breath, my chest hurts...this developed this moring, right before I got diagnosed with the flu...he checked my lower body, and listened to everything.... Im known to develope mysterious inflammations which Im beginning to believe its fibromyalgia now... this chest pain burping started from coughing I think... but coughing doesnt change much, and doesnt hurt me..... I smoke... Im just sore now, like I have been these past weeks with shingles, and nothing has gotten worse..... from my experience I know what the heart can do... I dont even get tired on exertion... I just feel like shit with the flu, that Im weak and dont want to walk....I have a very painful stomach and alot of burping which hurts when I go through the motions to burp...
