I am having swollen throat with slight body aches and it hurts when swallowing
one side of my throat is swollen, it s felt this way for about 2 days; today being the second. today i started having body aches and throat is still sore . it doesn t really hurt when i swallow, but hurts when i turn my head left and right.
i was trying to avoid going to the doctor and taking a prescription. how long until the infection goes away on it's own, and any home remedies recommended would be of help also. i've been drinking a lot of warm liquid, and started a warm salt water gargle.

Hello! I m 13 years old. I stayed home from school today because I m sick! I was wondering what of though. On sunday, I was feeling great! I was singing and moving and feeling good. On monday, I woke up with a sore throat . I didn t think much of it, so I didnt say anything. My dad noticed I was sick though, and said to call him or my mother at work if it got any worse. It did. Later in the day, I began experiencing headache&weakness. Do you ever get that feeling when you feel really weak and shakey? Thats exactly what it was like. I was also slightly dizzy. I texted my dad from my locker (shh, dont tell my principal, hehe) and he came to get me. Later that night, I couldn t get up without dealing with a booming headache. I laid on the couch all night, except to move to my bedroom, which was the longest walk ever. I have a low fever of 100.2 degrees Fahrenheit . Throughout the night I experienced chills, and then I became very sweaty, my mom told me that was my fever breaking. I awoke on tuesday to feel much better! I went downstairs and put on the tv. My parents called to check up on me and I told them I was doing fine. Later that day though, I progressively started to feel worse! It was almost as bad as monday, just no more aches in my legs. I did, although, experience cramping in my knee and shin. It was as if something was stabbing me from the inside out. Today, Wednesday, I feel MUCH MUCH better. EXCEPT, I woke up with the most terrible sensation in my throat! I was born with tonsils so big, that every doctor, or dentist I go to exclaims, wow! [coworker name] come here! You gotta see this! Its hard to tell if my tonsils are swollen or not because I dont really pay much attention to them. Anyways, my tonsils feel like they weigh 25 pounds, and are anchoring down my throat! It hurts super bad to swallow and talk, but not to eat. Infact, when I eat, it feels good because as the food goes down, it scratches my tonsils and relieves the itch . They have been hurting since Monday morning, and they are throbbing. It feels as though they could burst at any second. They hurt REALLY bad, like, i wanna cry. The throbbing, and tenderness is getting old. This doesnt feel like a regular sore throat, what could it be? I did some research and have come to believe its Tonsilitis, but my mom thinks its strep! What do you think? Also, I m starting to cough frequently. Thank you for your time! Sorry this is so long, I just thought it best to be thorough. This has been a rough week for me! ahah, any suggestions as to how to stop the pain would be apprectiated. Also, should I be seeing a doctor about this? Thanks again for your time! :) -Alexis
Hi, I had some swelling in my tonsils recently and a bit of pain while swallowing and in my ears. My throat does not really bother me unless I am swallowing, but it is not a burning pain, it is more of a muscular pain like that of my ears/ tonsils. I had a fever and severe body aches earlier this week ( it peaked at 100.6) but those symptoms have been gone for a couple of days, but the throat/ tonsil problems were not an issue when I had the other symptoms. I have a picture of my throat/ tonsils that I can attach. I did get a flu test at my doctor s office which came back negative this past week. I would like to know what I might have. Thanks! -David (age 19)
Midday Wednesday, my throat started to be sore and I was getting chills. Thursday, my throat was sore and really hurt on the right side when I swallowed, I also had swollen glands, my ears felt like sound was dulled and my body was slightly achy. Today, both sides of throat hurt when I swallow, my glands are more swollen, the back of my neck aches and my ears are bothering me a bit. Any idea what this could be?
My father, age 78, is in excellent health and only takes medication for hypercholesterolemia (low 200 s). He recently started Erythromycin for head and chest congestion and sore throat. After taking this for a few days he had blood blisters erupt in his scalp and ears. His head felt a lot of pressure and he was worried he might be having a stroke. His neck and head were stiff with some numbness in his right arm. He DC d the antibiotic and went to his doctor, who placed him on Prednisone. Now he is a little groggy and isn t feeling well so he stopped the Prednisone. He sounds weak and we aren t sure why he was put on the Prednisone. My question is - why take Prednisone if the blisters are drying up? What is the benefit versus the risks?
I am writing about my 14 year old son, who has been ill repeatedly 4 times for the past 7 weeks. He s been on antibiotics all 4 times, struggles to recover until his antibiotics are nearly gone, finally feels better for a few days and then gets it again. We are wondering if it is valley fever. Can that come with congestion/sinus symptoms? He s been diagnosed with sinus infections each time, but develops not only significant congestion/sinus symtpoms, but also chest pain, horrible coughing, fatigue, sore throat, and is miserable. He has faithfully taken not only strong antibiotics, but prescription strength cough syrup/decongestant, Flonase nasal spray, Zyrtec once a day, and breathing treatments up to 4 times a day, along with vitamin C and lots of fluids. He is otherwise very healthy, but his doctor is concerned that perhaps it is not really sinus infections he has had. I cannot find on the internet where there is a connection between congestion/sinus symptoms and Valley Fever - curious about that as others have asked if he has been tested for it. We live in Phoenix. As a young child he had repeated ear infections, but 4 years ago at age 10 he had his tonsils and adenoids removed, tubes in his ears, and a major sinus surgery. He has been very healthy ever since until now. Any ideas? Thank you verey much!
Have a sore throat for about 5-6 weeks, a cyst in my sinus cavatiy, which I haven t checked for a couple of years, and many diseases. Lupus, Hep C, osteoarthritis, fibromylaghia , and TIA s and heart palps. Tske Metroprolol, and some nutrional Physician pills, Sentra AM, Sentra PM, Theramine, Percura (for the neuropathy), and also now started P Darco pills, and use the tea when I feel like I need it. Helps. I try and eat good, and have a sweet tooth. Trying to curb that, but it is difficult. Just wondered what this sore throat could possibily be, and where to start looking for answers Oh and there is a complex cyst in my thyroid that hasn t been checked,. so obiviously I am getting appt. for the sore throat, and will look into thyroid. Wish I knew doctors in this area that were into the more natural treatments, like biomedicals, etc. Do you know any in this are you could recommend? I live in Kingman, AZ. Last month (Early December) I was having ear pain, sore throat, cough, and mucus/runny nose. I also noticed a grouping of about 3 or 4 white spots(inflamed with puss-like characteristics). I had my tonsils removed about 8 years ago. My doctor said I had a regular infection it ll pass in 2 weeks, and the symptoms were gone. Yesterday I looked in my throat and those spots are identical and haven t resolved. When I was younger I had strep with the tonsil stones but this is not it. I snore. Have sore throats in the morning. Sacks or bumps in throat are not at all painful. My tongue is white at the very back of it. Doctor took a culture and it wasn t strep.
