I am having swollen ankle and cannot walk. Is the bone broken or just sprained ?

hi yesterday at about 7 ish pm i stepped on a rock in a pair of working boot i am 24/f when i stepped on the rock my right ankle bent straight to the right toward the ground.....i took a moment and tried to walk it hurt but i let it of right now it is swollen and walking is more of a project than anything else the pain level at rest is about a 6 walking is through the roof but a 10 would do...moving it or anything on it hurts to about a 8 or 9 it is slightly warm but not bruised just swollen could it be broken or just sprained??

Mostly it seems to be sprained ,but for further evaluation and clearing your doubt you must consult your nearest orthopaedic surgeon .meanwhile you can take rhus tox 30 4 tabs 1 hrly for 1-2 days.
Mostly it will be cleared by rhustox.

just as a question what is the med u does it go by another name i have taken some pain med but it only dulls the pain for a little bit not very long....

thanks for choosing health care magic.Dear Lee,mostly this could be due to over stretching of muscles and ligaments.This sometimes leads to swelling of muscle fibers.The bone 5th metatarsal head in a very fragile bone and it gets fractured very easily.So if you have pain on outer side of foot below ankle this could be more likely.Take rest and analgesics.Avoid putting weight on it.Keep your foot elevated and you can use an elastocrepe bandage over it.Please see a orthopedic surgeon for further assistance.
