I Am Having Hypertension, 130/90, On Medicine, Should I Stop Taking ?

I am having hypertension, 130/90, on medicine, should i stop taking salt completely, not even in cooking?
Will this help in lowering of BP? If i completely stop taking salt, will it have any adverse effect on health?
