I am having a strange pain in my heart for seconds in every 10-15 minutes.

Hi. I m having a strange problem with what I think is my heart .? All day yesterday I ve had reoccurring flashes of pain, every ten to fifteen minutes, sometimes faster than that. It comes on for like a second and then goes away. ALL day yesterday. I thought it would go away with sleep but, it didn t. As I m typing this right now, it s still happening. The weird thing is, I think, when I lie on my back, it stops. Could be a coincidence, but I thought I d mention it. Anyway, to summarize; weird pain in my heart, flashes for a second and goes away, every 5-10-15 minutes, all day. And is still there. Any ideas ?

Stop asking random people who don't know and GO TO THE DOCTOR. This is far too important for Y!A.

This started about 9 years ago when I was 12 years old. I saw my doctor, and I said, I have these chest pains... and before I could finish she said, It s gas. Anything else? They come out of nowhere, whether I m sleeping, or driving, or at work. It s extremely sharp and stabbing, and I get this chemical or metallic taste in my mouth. It lasts anywhere from 1 second to 10-15 seconds. When it happens, my heart rate is really irregular, stopping for a 3-5 seconds completely, then beating quickly, seemingly to make up for the lost beats. The irregular heart rate continues for several minutes after the pain dissipates. Sometimes it is so sudden or sharp that I cry out and instantly burst into tears, which is rather embarrassing since I m 21 years old, and the pain usually goes away very quickly, leaving me feeling like a fool. The metallic taste baffles me... Heart disease does run in my family. My great grandfather died at 35 years of age, and my father and grandfather diagnosed.. Haven t seen a cardiologist because my doctor always said I was too young to have heart problems so it was just gas. She refused to talk to me about it. Now that I m 21, I don t have any health insurance and we don t qualify for state medical insurance because even though we make $800 a month in a 4 person household, we own our house and 2 cars.
