My husband, age 57, just passed away from the widow maker heart attack. He got up to go to work and as always, sat on the second step of the basement steps to smoke. I heard him fall down the stairs and found hi, at the bottom on concrete, he was still breathing, I called 911, while on the phone with them, he walked up the stairs and when I told him help was on the way, he said to cancel them that he just blacked out for a second and he was going to work. He then walked up another flight of stairs to the bathroom and sat on the comode and fell off onto the floor, got back up onto the comode while I was calling 911 back, and was mumbling, I held him steady while waiting for them to arrive, when they did he was still breathing but was unconsious when they left for the hospital. He died there only minutes later. The only symptoms he was having was his stomach hurt after eating for a couple of months prior and said he had a sick feeling after eating bananas or something sweet and then the feeling would pass. Could you explain any of this to me?
Hello Doctor, My dad, 92 yrs old, woke at 2 AM last night with heavy night sweats. He said that it occurred earlier in the week also but he was not concerned at that time. In the morning, he had some light burning in his chest and symptoms similar to when he had a mild heart attach in 2005. That did concern him, he called 911, and was transported to the hospital. He is in the hospital now, sitting up, and undergoing tests. They did an EKG, and blood tests, and they have all been negative. They plan to keep him overnight, see how he does, and do additional testing (I don t know which ones) tomorrow. Your thoughts?
well, its a long story. you see today my dad had a heart attack , and nobody was home except for my dog. my mom sister and i were on our way back home from a wedding when our dad called - he sounded out of breath but i heard heart attack so we rushed home. we called 911 and they arrived so my dads skin was cold, and he could hardly breath plus he had arm pains. i didnt go to the hospital with my dad cause im only 13 and i cant bare to see anything liek this. my mom and sister went though. so, my mom and sis are home right now but my dad is staying at the hospital. they told me my fathers arteries were blocked in the heart and the doctor had to take the heart out and put these metal tubes or something. and he also had to connect the arteries near the groins. i just want to know if hes going to be okay and what could of caused this. my dad drinks sometimes but not often. the doctor said my dad might be back on wednesday or tuesday depending on how he does over night. but yea my dad has a artificial heart now so he could stay alive because if he doesnt have it hes dead =/ kathleen the doctor said my dad wont be able to work or anything for 30 days and he will be taking the pills for a whole year. also, i do think it was all the fat my dad had. but he also had blood sugar problems
I had a heart attack a few months back and had an echogram taken which measures your valves and muscles and other parts of your heart. The results I received was that my heart is funcitoning at 25 percent at this time and my muscles are dead. I had 36 sessions of cardiac rehab also and if I walk a short distance I get shortness of breath also. Can I live a normal life with my heart at 25 percent and am I a high risk of living a short life. Thank you
my friend is male, 58 yrs. Had a heart attack 3 yrs ago and had a bypass. He had a mild heart attack last month no bypass.Today at his check up his cardio. dr. said that he has an 80% blockage in 4 artries not counting the ones bypassed 3yrs ago. These blockages are in places where there is a 75% chance that an operation would kill him, according to the dr. The dr said that my friend is a walking time bomb, gave him 6-8 months and added that stress, strain, physcial exertion could cause it to happen quicker.I know diet and exercise are very important in keeping a healthy heart. Is there ANYTHING my friend can do except wait?
Hi, My father is 63 years old. 2 days back he suffered a chest pain for a long time when he was walking for quite sometimes. He did some chest examinations and after he was shown a cardiologist he told that apart from a blockage in heart there is a small miocadial infarction.
I don't stay with him and i really don't know what is the his health condition and what is the immediate doable for him.
He is fine now. Some medicines are given. I don't understand was it a heart attack because the doctor haven't told like that.
I stay in Bangalore and is in Kolkata. Pls suggest the immediate doable and places where treatments would be good.
My father in law has had 3 heart attacks. This last one has left him with only 10 percent heart functioning. Surgery is out of the question. He has one completely blocked artery, one that is 80 percent blocked. He is being sent home with oxygen. what is the prognosis?
