Could Weakness, Fatigue, GERD And Nocturnal Seizures Be Due To Gemfibrozil, Metoprolol, Duloxetine, Pravastatin, Lisinopril, Omeprazole, Or Lorazepam?

I am a Type 1 Diabetic (for over 30 years). Along with two types of insulin that I inject 4 times a day, I also take several oral medications: Gemfibrozil, metoprolol, duloxetine, pravastatin, lisinopril, omeprazol, lorazapam. and calcium and multivitamin. My stomach feels as though it flips over and feels fluttery (along with painful GERD). What concerns me most, however, is the fatigue and weakness that I deal with everyday. I also have occasional nocturnal seizures that terrify me. Could any of these conditions be caused by my medications? Thank you, Debra Shateri

Hi,

Some of the symptoms you are experiencing, such as fatigue and weakness, could be side effects of one or more of the medications you are taking. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a possible side effect of Duloxetine and Lorazepam. Nocturnal seizures could also be a side effect of some medications.

I would like you to please speak with your doctor about your specific symptoms and any concerns you have about your medications. They can help determine if any adjustments need to be made to your treatment plan or if any new tests are required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
