Should I Consult About The Prescription Of Etodolac Extended Release In Place Of Etodolac?
I am 73 yr old with arthritis and had been taking 500 mg etodolac bid and was looking for longer lasting etodolac. Started taking etodolac extended release 500 mg one bid and this was helping. My doctor though would only give me a prescription etodolac extended release 500 mg one every 24 hours only. Should I call and complain to him about this?

Hi,
You can take Tab. Etodolac ER 500 mg once a day, if the pain is more then you can take it as and when required for second time. Not to exceed more than 2 times a day.

Hi,
For chronic pain, extended release medication is often preferable for the patient as it provides longer lasting pain relief and fewer break-throughs of pain. An argument for extended release morning and night could most definitely be made. However, please be advised that Etodolac is a very potent medication with several important risks related to it, most notable an increased risk of ulcers and heart disease.
