I am 18, my BP is 140/90. Is it too high?

im 18 and i just came back from my friends house, its been a week since i had a soda and i had like 7 last night, from then on my left arm felt kinda tingly, after trying to fall asleep it started to feel better, when i got home today my mom took my blood pressure and it was something like 130-140 over 90. is that dangerously high? they weren t freaking out but were like THATS REALLY HIGH. any help? i used to weight 200 but i gained a ton of weight after my surgery i had (not related) so now im in the 230 235 area my dad has high blood pressure (were not related) and so we have a blood pressure taking thing at home. and i havent had any previous issues with my blood pressure, its always been very normal considering my terrible lifestyle _

No action should ever be considered in response to one off blood pressure readings, yours on the ONE occasion is mildly elevate, but all that requires initially is to have it repeated a few times professionally. You don't say what your recent surgery was nor your height, but unless you are 6 feet 10 inches or more you are clearly overweight, which will tend to put your BP up.
