Heart disease is not contagious; therefore, you don't "catch" it. Certain lifestyle and hereditary factors cause heart disease.

My mother is 39 years old. 24 years ago in 1986 she was 15 and had open heartsurgery pre-pairing her aorta with a machanical valve. Just Wen January 19th shewas taken to a local ER with cheast pains, were she was given a veriaty of test.Soon a CT scan revaled an Ascending Aortic Anyerisum messuring 5.4 cm. She wasplaced in the hospital, because of the Pnominia. She had an echo done that alsoshowed a leaky Palminary Valve. She was soon released because no doctor was totouch her till the Pnominia was gone. Today January 25th she seen a Cardioligistwho told her he had very little concern to come back in 3 months for another CT!Which makes no sence to me seening that they do not no how fast it\ s gowing. I have Ehler-Danlos (hybermobile) type and now have an extremely high CRP rat 34.4 (I believe anything over 7 is a concern). I ve had 4 shoulder replacements. My orthopedic surgeon aspirated some fluid from the joint/prosthesis and has ruled out an infection there. Now my familiy doctor doesn t seem concerned at all with a 34.4 CRP reading but I am! I am 53 years old and have a lot of other symptoms as well, but my main concern right now is that my extremely high CRP may indicate something that should be treated right away - like cancer or lupus. There have been no tests ordered and I feel very confused about how much I should push my doctor to investigate this. By the way, my CRP has been elevated from a shoulder infection prior -- then it was only at 12 -- now at 34.4 that seems very frightening to me. My high sensitivity CRP test put me in the average range for heart disease. Do you have any suggestions for me?

My husband's heart is beating loudly and seems to be beating irregularly. I took his blood pressure and it was normal. His heart rate was 102bpm. He also has an urge to cough periodically. He's had these episodes happen before and the cough has helped at times. Do we need to be concerned? His father died from heart disease and started having an irregular heart beat when he was 35.
