How Would A Tongue Tie Be Cut During Oral Surgery?

I just had oral surgery yesterday (had 7 teeth removed) and I also had a previous problem with a slight case of being tongue tied... which no one really took an issue with... well when I really woke up from my surgery and realized what was bothering me it was under my tongue, and not my gums... I realized that my tongue tied(ness) had been cut.... can you tell (or show) me what was done? JoyMarie Franklin, Port Angeles, WA 50 years old

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there is a possibility that during the extraction of the teeth there has been injury to the lingual frenulum as it is already a high tied frenulum and can get injured while extraction..
You should consult your surgeon and get evaluated and in case of traumatic injury to the frenulum it will get healed gradually..
The frenulum being cut does not looks apparent and there can be only by traumatic injury to the lower side of tongue as well as lingual frenulum..
You can do warm saline gargles and apply a numbing gel over the painful area as well as you can take the advised course of antibiotics and painkillers for relief from pain and prevent infection..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
