Hi, Dengue is essentially a viral infection spread by mosquito bites. In most people it merely causes a flu-like illness although in some it can be very serious which is very difficult to predict. Protection from mosquito bites particularly in dengue endemic areas is essential. In some serious cases of dengue fever(termed the dengue haemorrhagic fever) hospitalisation and close supportive treatment is required. There is no specific medicine to treat this as it is a viral infection. Even serious cases can be saved by careful, meticulous treatment in a hospital. Take care.
