How To Withdraw Prednisolone?

Hi, I have been prescribed prednisolone for tendinitis in my shoulder, I had a first dose today of 25mg (was supposed to complete a week treatment) but am having cold feeling and achy legs. I would like to discontinue and not take any more. Would this be okay to do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.
I read your query carefully.
No ,its not possible to stop
If you abruptly stop taking prednisone or taper off too quickly, you might experience prednisone withdrawal symptoms:

Severe fatigue
Weakness
Body aches
Joint pain
Prednisone is similar to cortisol, a hormone naturally made by your adrenal glands.
A gradual reduction in prednisone dosage gives your adrenal glands time to resume their normal function.
I would like to advise you visit your doctor and ask him to reduce your dose.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health.
