Hello, It is advisable to wean off Zonegran if you have been seizure free. However, if you are having side effects that can t be tolerated, get examined & inform your treating doctor before you withdraw from this medication. Withdrawal should be gradual over a prolonged period of time, this reduces the post-withdrawal symptoms & also decreases the chances of relapse. The dose should be slowly tapered. Tapering the dose (taking lower doses) can cause withdrawal symptoms. You will need medical support at this time, get connected to a detox center/de-addiction center. Detox centers/ de addiction centers will regulate your medication. They will help you maintain your routine, sleeping hours, keep you busy, engaged & also monitor your symptoms & give medical support when you need it. Stay connected with your treating doctor.
