How To Use Gavilyte G Before A Colonoscopy?

what are the directions for using Gravilyte G before a colonoscopy? My insurance would not cover SUPREP that my doctor ordered. The pharmacist gave me Gravilyte G. When should I start this prep on the day before the procedure? Says I must drink 4 liters of fluid. Ugh!!! Is there another option?

Hi,

Gavilyte G is a bowel preparation solution that is used to clean the colon before a colonoscopy. The instructions for using Gavilyte G may vary depending on the specific product you have, but in general, you should start the preparation the day before the procedure.

Typically, the instructions for Gavilyte G involve mixing the powder with water and drinking it over a certain period of time, usually in the evening or night before the procedure. The instructions will also likely indicate how much fluid you need to drink in total, which can be a large amount, such as 4 liters.

It's important to follow the instructions carefully and to drink enough fluid to ensure that your colon is thoroughly cleaned. If you have any concerns or questions about using Gavilyte G, you should speak with your doctor or pharmacist.

As for an alternative, some other bowel preparation options include using a fleet enema, or taking an oral laxative. However, it would be best to consult with your doctor to see which one is best for you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

No, it's protocol based for good visualization. It needs to be followed as prescribed. This is also followed but check with a doctor who is going to do colonoscopy. If he allows then can do (1.5 oz of Fleet Phospho-Soda liquid mixed into half a glass of water, followed by a full glass of water at 3:00 PM and again at 7:00 PM on the day prior to examination) but it totally depends on doctor. They mostly stick to protocol and then get better visualization.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
