How To Treat Yeast Infection?

Hello. I think i may have a yeast infection. It burns when i go to the bathroom ; experiencing redness and itchyness. I applied germonlene to the areas where it was red and itchy and it seemd to help. I would like to know if it it safe to keep on doing this. And what else i can do to cure this problem without having to see a doctor. I do take birth control pills and i was wearing uncomfortable underwear yesterday. I have heard that it may be the cause of yeast infections. Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello. this is dr jay here and I would like to answer your query.

Please be assured that the condition you have described is completely treatable and I suggest u not to worry too much.

The symptoms you have given suggest an infection. it may not be yeast as you think but fungal infections are the leading cause.

I suggest three things in such cases

Complete genital hygiene, not wearing tight underwear and clean sanitary pads

dusting powders or ointments containing antifungals like ketoconazole and fluconazole are helpful

abstinence from intercourse till symptoms subside.

and yes, you can continue OC pills

hope this helped.

please do rate the answer and leave your feedback.
