It is important to know your age and gender for a complete discussion. While recurrent urinary infections are common in females of the reproductive age group and those using public wash rooms, in males it is usually in the elderly age group due to obstruction of urinary outflow by an enlarged prostate. Whatever the underlying conditions, they need to be treated in present. It is less common that a spontaneous urinary infection stays for long. If in a female, you must take precautions to flush out the bacteria by drinking adequate water and fluids and visiting washroom regularly. Please make sure the washrooms you visit are clean. In an elderly male with urinary obstruction, please visit urologist and take treatment for condition. For the infection, all patients must get an urine culture and sensitivity test done and take antibiotics which is responsive to causative bacteriae and infections.
