How To Treat Type 2 Diabetes?

I am/was borderline type 2 Diabetes, since 2010 and I take Metformin daily. I had my gall bladder removed in 2007. Currently my level is below borderline. I recently suffered what appeared to be flu like symptoms- 2 days of severe and urgent diarrhea, no fever, some vomiting, pain and gas.I have had recurrent incidents for many years, of abdominal complaints, requiring ER and even admitting- a several day stay. Multiple visits = several Diagnosis' : colitis, diverticulosis,gastro-enteritis, gastritis. My diet seldom includes sweets or sodas, or rich foods. I had a Xmas eve dinner with mashed potates with blended cauliflower, a small slice of ham, green bean casserole, and scalloped apples (no crust/no pie). I was queasy the next morning and became ill by that evening. My question is, is this a problem due to the cholecystectomy? And, since I don't have a gall bladder, is my liver in danger? I am 64 years old, I do not smoke or drink (I never have) , seldom eat fast foods, or cakes, donuts, etc. 2 months ago I had a blood test and the liver enzymes were slightly elevated, but the subsequent test was normal. Thank you in advance for your response.

I must tell you that gall bladder surgery is an almost routine procedure and well thought out procedure in most of the centers now.
Gall bladder is a separate bag like structure placed adjacent to the liver.

So no. Removal of gall bladder does not affect your liver at all. It is quite a safe procedure to have the gall bladder removed.

Of course, you should avoid the fatty food that may actually cause you trouble like stomach pain, nausea and vomiting.

As far as your blood tests, I think you need not worry now that your test is back to normal
