How To Treat Tubulovillous Adenoma?
I had done my colonoscopy and found had a tubulovillous adenoma 1cm polyp with high grade dysplasia. What do you make of it and when do i need to go for another colonoscpy. I have UC since last 20 years. I had colonoscopy done in Sep 2013 and again in April 2014 so how come the polyp grew that fast or did the GI missed the polyp first time

1) Are on steroid or other medication for ulcerative colitis?
2) simple adenoma does not require resection during colonoscopy and only regular follow-up with colonoscopy is required.
3) However, background of ulcerative colitis, high grade dysplasia make polyp vulnerable for malignant change (cancer formation) and therefore, such polyps in this situation need to be excised during colonoscopy with regular follow-up for development of other new polyp or similar lesion at different site.
4) In case you planning to undergo surgery for ulcerative colitis then this colonoscopic excision of polyp is not required as whole diseased colon would be removed during procedure
