my relative 29yrs male had an episode of visual hallucinations on 9-03-2010 .he would say that people are laughing at him,the bus conductor is laughing at him.he was taken to a near by psychiatrist and diagnosed as paranoid schizhophrenia.he was put on oleanz and risperidon .he never had hallucinations but would hit on the wall and talk to himself.he seems to be depressed putting weight, not interested in socialising.kindly help
The symptoms you have described are consistent with a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia. This disorder usually responds well to treatment but you will need to find a good psychiatrist and ensure that the patient follows up regularly with the doctor. Oleanz and risperidone are both used to treat this disorder, but only one of the two given in adequate dose may be enough. Oleanz is also known to cause weight gain.
Best wishes.
