How To Treat Sunburn On Legs Leading To Discolouration And Swelling?

4 days ago I got a pretty badly sunburn on my legs that has since turned a little dark almost looking like it might be purple/ bruised. My legs still hurt I am not able to touch them and they are a little swollen. Just want to make sure this is normal for a sunburn. Has never happened before.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

It does seem a little excess and I would recommend a visit to the dermatologist. If you were on any medications or creams or topical applications that made you photosensitive this would be the cause for your presentation. But if not, then this increased amount of photo sensitivity could be indicative of some underlying condition (?). I would recommend an elaborate evaluation including a check on your ANA and RA factor levels.

Best wishes
