Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter took some Tylenol over break up with a boyfriend, she is seventeen. She was admitted to the hospital and now I was told that she needs to be transfer to mental institution. I disagree with that. What are my rights. My daughter does not want to go either. She told me what she did was stupid.
Suicidal attempt is a impulsive act and in her case, may be due to impulse, she did that act. Normally in mental institute, patients are kept for few days observation, just to handle the stressful condition. There is nothing harm in it. The moment, doctors feel that patient would be ok, they would discharge her. In my opinion, there is no harm in sending her to mental institute.
Thanks
