How To Treat Spastic Bladder And Renal Cyst?

Hi. I have been diagnosed with spastic bladder about 5 years ago. I have tried several different medications for it, but they always make my vision blurry. My doctor wants me to consider botox injections in the wall of my bladder. He sent me first to have an ultrasound of my kidneys and bladder to make sure I wasn t having reflux and damaging my kidneys because I have had three bad bladder infections this year that went to my kidneys. I also have microscopic blood in my urine.Ultrasound results-1. No hydronephrosis2. Small left renal cyst3. Hazy echogenicity in the posterior of bladder could be artifact or possibly small amount of layering debris.Question- what is meant by artifact and what would cause layering debris?

Urologist 's  Response
Hi
I understand your concern.
I preseume from what you have said that you have a overactive bladder not responding to medications/getting side effects. I agree with your doctor that botox injections will be the next line of treatment. But you will need urodynamics test first.
The echogenecity in the bladder on ultrasound needs to be evaluated with cystoscopy to identify what it is- this could be debris in urine due to inadequate fluid intake or recurrent infections or incomplete bladder emptying. The cystoscopy can be combined with botox injections if necessary.
