How To Treat Soreness And Swelling Of Tongue Caused After Biting?

I bit my tongue about one in a half weeks ago and looks like i traumatized my nerves....My tongue is a little sore and is a little swollen on the left side. I try to maintain a healthy oral cleaning every evening with peroxide and water and brushing my teeth every evening. i have little sensation on the top of my tongue. After a week and 1/2 i can feel a little improvement but i am worried this condition could get worse.....

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your concern. It very common to bite a tongue during eating .Sometimes nerve get injured during tongue bite as in your case.Nerve fiber regenerate itself in few weeks .

I would suggest you to maintain good oral hygiene ,Strictly avoid tobacco ,alcohol and smoking,do warm saline rinses and take vitamin B12 supplement which will be extremely helpful by hasting the recovery. You should also eat more eggs ,fresh green leafy vegetables and drink milk ,all of them contain vitamin b12.

If condition still persist then you should consult dentist /oral surgeon.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
