How To Treat Sore Throat And Cold?

ive been sick for 1.5 weeks with a common cold; soar throat, runny nose, temp 99-100, loss of taste and smell. right now its only my nose and kinda my ears. no temp. but i keep spitting out mucus and when i blow my nose (only when i feel it is really necessary, i never blow too hard) this huge mucus/blood glob comes out (about the size of two full thumbs). The mucus is orange and blood is dark; all looks like one... and keeps getting darker. about 4-5 times a day i would blow this out of my nose and its only from my left nostril. will it go away in time, or is this something that i should get checked?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The cough and cold is associated with increased mucus production. The inflammation of the sinus and nasal passages can result in blood in the nasal discharge or on coughing.

Treatment would involve the use of : (1) oral decongestants as well as topical decongestants
(2)oral antihistamines

These should be available in combination at your local pharmacy.

I hope this helps
