How To Treat Severe Cold, cough And Soreness Around The Eyes?

Hi, I got a very bad head cold for the past few days and this included sneezing, coughing, soreness around the eyes, my sense of smell is impaired, everything smells and tastes tangy. Two days ago I was coughing so hard I got a sharp pain in the lower part of my abdomen on the right hand side just above my pelvic area. Every time I cough the pain is severe, I usually hold down on it. It hurts even when I laugh. The pain fades after a minute or two. It only hurts when I cough, laugh or sneeze. The pain is not as severe today but then I m bleeding from below but I m due my periods next week, I really don t know what to do.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us.

I share your concerns. In my opinion you have upper respiratory tract infections. It is involving your nose, throat, bronchi or possibly some parts of lungs. Your eye congestion, cough, impaired smell all are because of this infection. Your pain in abdomen is due to tired muscles because of continuous coughing.

I see several patients with such symptoms and I would advise you following
1 sputum microscopic examination to identify the causative organisms
2 a course of antibiotics (penicillin group is good if you are not allergic to it)
3 decongestants and antihistamines
4 expectorant cough syrup
5 saline gargles
6 avoid cold items in food like ice creams.

You can request this from your general practitioner and you will be fine in one week of treatment.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write to us or me for more questions. I wish you good health and rapid recovery. Kindly rate this reply. Thanks
