How to treat scar on leg after having sclerotherapy?

I recently had sclerotherapy on my leg, few weeks later I developed a wound, went to my gp who gave me antibiotics etc after 4 weeks on my wound has healed, however has left a bad mark, is there anything you would recommend me to use on it to help the appearance, any help would be greatly appreciated. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of the scar. My treatment advice is –

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a placentrax gel twice daily on it.
3. Take a vitamin E supplement once daily for 3 months.
4. Other treatment options are oral multivitamins, a topical steroid given only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech

Hello! I have noticed that after receiving a painfull hit during paintball the veins in the affected area (on leg) have become more visible. They are also more visible, if compared to the same area of the other leg. Can this be related, if yes - could it disappeared or it should be treated with sclerotherapy, for example. Thank you!

I am 65 yrs old, RN. working FT, weigh 120, had vein procedure for the heavy, fatigue in my legs. I work out regularly by the way. The procedure -- laser, vein removal, and sclerotherapy was done last fall. Since then I seem to have lymphedema in both legs -- worse in the right. It s in the ankle area and about 4 to 5 in. above. Had it checked by the dr. who did the procedure in April, and he had no answers saying my ultrasound was fine. What do you think? It is uncomfortable with some times pain in the outer right ankle.

I had laser sclerotherapy on my vascular anomaly (venuous malformation). I got it a month ago and it is finally starting to come off. now I have a hole in my leg ( which they said would happen) but it s constantly dr aning fluid (only a little) and the wound smells like rotting fish. what do you think that means? the skin around it is inflamed and red and hurts to touch too. could it be an infection?
