How To Treat Persistent Pain In Knee Caused After Injury?

I fell and landed on my knee on a concrete driveway earlier. I landed fully on my right knee as if I was on one knee to propose. It hurt at the time but eased up after a while. A few hours later and I can t bare to put any weight on it. It hurts even resting, but much more so when moved. There is little swelling, but it is very warm to the touch. Is this something I should go to the emergency room for? Or wait until I can get into my regular doctor s office for an appointment?

Hi,

I think you must be going through a lot of pain at this moment. From the way you describe it, I am of the opinion that you could possibly have developed an injury to the patella (knee cap).

I would suggest you visit the ER and get an X ray taken and rule out any injury to the knee joint and associated tendons and ligaments.

Over the counter analgesics such as ibuprofen, diclofenac would help you get relieved of the pain but it is essential that you get the area evaluated thoroughly first to rule out any damage to prevent any deformity or complication later.

Hope this helps.

I really appreciate your concern, knee joint is very fragile one and it can easily broken and here in your case meniscus is the matter of concern so better get done the MRI as early as possible till then do not try to move the joint, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
