Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I woke up from a nap and stayed laying down I thought I started hearing noise I thought something was happening in the hallway so I got up in a panic to go help but when I opened my door nothing was happening so I just went back to my room and heart was beating pretty fast for awhile.
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
From the description of your symptoms, it appears that you have experienced a panic attack. This is nothing but an intense bout of anxiety. Anxiety can manifest itself with not only psychological symptoms, but with physical symptoms also. This is the reason why you felt your heart beat fast.
If this is the first time this is happening, then you don't have to worry. But, if you are having recurrent such symptoms then I would advise you consult a psychiatrist for a detailed psychological assessment and further treatment. There are effective treatment options - in the form of medication or counselling / psychotherapy which will help you overcome your problems.
Wish you all the best.
