How To Treat Painful And Swollen Wrist?

I hurt my wrist a little over 3 weeks ago. It popped and was a little swollen that day but the swelling went away and the pain wasn t that bad. I was icing it a lot and have been wearing a wrist brace for three weeks but it doesnt seem to help. The brace almost makes it hurt worse. It doesn t hurt that much bending it back and forth. It hurts when I rotate my wrist. The pain goes a little bit down my arm also.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Patient,

a bruised wrist can take up to six weeks to stop hurting. But i do recommend an x ray or mri to make sure nothing is broken (or at leat have your md in town have a a look at it to decide about that, depending how bad the trauma was). In addition to icing and bracelet you can take some pain medication like ibuprofene or similar after checking with your treating doctor. Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
