How To Treat Nasal Congestion, Cough And Wheezing In An Infant?

Hello, My 13 months old baby has had a runny nose and greasy cough for more than 6 weeks now. We have taken her to the GP 3 weeks ago but he said its just a cold, however its still not going away and baby is woken up at night by cough, and has whizzing noise for a while. Should I take her to the GP again, and what can I do to help?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of nasal congestion, cough and wheezing in your baby which is due to upper respiratory tract infection , asthma, allergic reaction, post nasal drip due to sinusitis and common cold. I would suggest you to take few preventive measures such as you should take cough expectorants. You should take anti inflammatory and anti allergic medication . Take decongestants and mucolytic agents. Avoid cold carbonated and cold beverages. Take diet rich in vitamin B12. You should take antibiotics . You should get blood test and swab test done. Breathlessness sometimes become serious problem so visit pediatrician without any delay and get it examined. Start treatment after complete examination.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
