Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For over a year it has been getting harder to walk in the mornings till my ankles warm up. They are now becoming quite thick just above the ankles. I do quite alot of walking. My archilles tendons have been sore to touch at a certain spot for along time.
As you need to begin stretching and get the muscle length to its optimum levels before going for long walks. Also, check that the ankle range of motion, knee range of motion, hip range of motion is to the fullest. Because any tightness in the muscles of the knee may change the gait and lead to quick tightness in the Achilles tendon.
Get the full range of hip, knee and ankle. Get the muscle to its original length by stretching, next to look for simple chair aerobics which helps to improve the muscle functions and avoid early fatigue.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
