How To Treat Muscle Pain After Lumbar Injury?

I have a lower lumbar injury to my L5 S1. I have 24/7 numbness in this area and extreme pain behind my knees and sides of my feet. My doctor said that my muscles are weak in my back and i am overweight so i just need therapy, however I went through therapy and that did not help my back at all, although it did strenghten all of my muscles. What is the dr. missing?

Hello,

I can suggest you rest, use an ice pack, avoid sitting because of the pressure of the body that goes into that area. Wear appropriate protective equipment.

If the pain persists more than 2 weeks make a Ct scan or MRI and consult with orthopedic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
