How To Treat Minor Blood Clot And Pain In The Ear?

Yesterday afternoon, while one of my relatives was cleaning my ear using ear bud, he accidently poked it bit more harder into ear. I had very minor pain for 2-5 secs and all became normal. Yesterday night, just before sleeping, I observed some blood in my ear. The blood got clotted by morning. Except for a very light sensation in the ear, I do not have any problems in the ear. Do I have to do any first aid or reach out an ENT specialist for this?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have minor blood clot and pain in the ear which is mainly due to ear infection, injury to ear drum and accumulation of wax and fluids. Sometime infection spread to ears through eustachian tube , when upper respiratory track infection is left untreated which causes pain as well. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper checkup and treatment . Doctor will examine ear and throat physically and ears with otoscope and rule out causes like wax buildup and temporomandibular problem . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin) at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory drugs . Avoid touching and pricking it with sharp object. For now keep your ears dry and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
