How To Treat Microcalcifications Noticed In The Mammoram?

I had a mammogram on May 15th as a follow up of my exam done a month prior. They found 4 microcalcifications. The report listed it as probably benign and most things I read state 80% of these findings are non cancerous. So, I have been concerned about this report. The bigger hangup I have, is my right breast, the one they detected the microcalcifications in, has hurt ever since. I went to my general MD about 2 weeks after the mammo to get his opinion on my report and told him of my pain. He said it would go away in 7-10 days. It hasn t. My right breast hurts. I am having a hard time sleeping comfortably and I m protective of it. I don t like my seatbelt to lay on it either. I am supposed to go back in 6 months (November) to have another follow up. I m nervous. Currently, due to my pain, I don t want to do a mammography again. I am thinking about getting a thermography. Any advice?

Hello,

Thromboelastography is superior to a mammogram in detecting suspicious lesions. Go for it. Are you feeling any swelling in the breast if yes go for fine needle aspiration cytology?

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
