How To Treat Low Lying Placenta?

Hi, I am 7 weeks pregnant today and am currently using Progesteron suppositories once daily to help sustain this pregnancy. I have had bleeding for approximately 2 days but no pain. The nurse at my clinic thinks it could be a low lying placenta. What are the symptoms and treatments for this and should I be concerned? 43 YO, 5'8", 140 lbs. I have had a total of 4 miscarriages and 4 live births. this is my 9th pregnancy. No health issues other than treatment for low thyroid.

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Bleeding in early pregnancy can be due to hormonal deficiency or low lying placenta being disturbed due to physical stress.
- Bleeding is usually controlled with progesteron supplements.Still you need USG pelvis to confirm it to be low lying placenta. It may or may not be low lying.
-In case it;s low lying you need to continue with the progesteron as per your doctor's advise & take rest/ avoid psychological or physical stress.
Even if it's not low lying placenta you will need progesteron as per need ( decided by your doctor)
- Low lying placenta many a times shifts up to have a normal position with growth of uterus.& advent of pregnancy and delivery are normal
BUT
some times it's remains at low lying position only ( Placenta previa ).. this condition calls for full bed rest for all 9 months & delivery.by LSCS.
* continue with your thyroid treatment/ have regular pregnancy check up / follow doctor's advise .
Thanks.
