How To Treat Little Lump And Bruise On Vagina?

I am 22 years old, 5"7 and weigh around 130lbs. Just this past weekend, I was kicked in the vagina during a fight. It bruised quickly after. The bruise isn't as dark as it was before, but it is the whole left side of my vagina. I have now noticed a little lump. I am not sure if I should go see a doctor or let the bruise run its normal course. I am just not quite sure what the lump could be..

Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

The lump you feel in your vagina is likely a condition called a hematoma. A hematoma is a collection of blood below the skin's surface. This can happen if you bruise particularly badly and there is a blood clot under the skin.

As long as you can urinate normally and the lump doesn't hurt too much or isn't getting bigger, there is no treatment that is required and the lump will eventually go away. Applying ice packs to the area (20 minutes on and twenty minutes off) and trying hard not to sit on hard surfaces will help the area to heal. You may see the bruising of the skin (which may look purple at first, and then change to green and yellow) for even a few weeks.

So in summary, the lump you feel is just a severe bruise that produced a blood clot under the skin, and it will go away on it's own, though it may take a few weeks.

I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
