How To Treat Itchy Rashes On Skin While No Relief With Hydrocortisone Cream 1%?

Over the past month, I have develop 6 itchy rashes on my body. They are located in the back of my neck, back, left shin, waist, and elbow. Initially, they are red, size of a quarter. Now, they have turned into light brown and remained itchy. The brown patches are itchy when scratched and turn red when scratched. I have used hydrocortisone cream 1% for 1 month and I do not see improvement. I have recently recovered from a jock itch from a fungal infection. I am completely healthy, 33 y.o.

Hello dear,

The rashs as mentioned in your post can be attributed to Ringworm (Tinea) infection.
Hydrocortisone cream can provide symptomatic relief from itching, but cannot eradicate the causative organism.

Management includes:
1. Keeping the area clean, dry & avoid too much exposure to water or sweat formation.
2. Antihistamine preparations like cetirizine to reduce the itching sensation & provide symptomatic relief.
3. Application of topical antifungal ointment like Clotrimazole to tackle the causative organism.

If symptoms still persist or aggravate further, then it will be better to consult a Dermatologist & get a proper examination done to find out the actual cause.
So that appropriate management steps could be taken.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Take care.
