How To Treat Excessive Fatigue In A 72 Years Female With Thyroid Removal Surgery And On Syntryroid?
My mom is 72 years old and last April had her thryoid taken out. She is taking Syntryroid medication. She does not have any energy, can barely function, and can barely walk. Her regular physician says she is a mystery to her. If something is not done, my mom says she will end up in a wheelchair. She has a therapist come in and do physical therapy twice a week. Her therapist says her muscles are fine. We are at the end of our rope. I believe her hormones or lack of hormones has sent her body in a chronic state. Any suggestions?
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
She have gone through thyroidectomy and she is now on synthroid. First of all she should check TSH level. Whether any changes in dosage is required or not will depend on TSH level.
If her TSH level is normal then she need examination and other investigation to search the cause of fatigue. She may have chronic fatigue syndrome.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you very good health.
